The haunting sound of the harp in a lunchtime concert given by Herefordshire Harpist Bronwen Wilkins, a former student of Ieuan Jones at the Royal College of Music.
Bronwen will play a fascinating variety of music from the 18th to the 20th centuries, including the Harp Sonata of Jean-Baptiste Cardon, harpist to the Romanov court; J. S. Bach’s celebrated Toccata and Fugue in D minor arranged for harp; the Impromptu by Marcel Grandjany who won the Premier Prix of the Conservatoire de Paris aged only thirteen and later headed the harp department at the renowned Julliard School in New York; the exciting Sarabande et Toccata of the Italian Giovanni Rota who, amongst a huge output of music, wrote about five hundred film scores including those of Fellini and Visconti.
